Heat warnings this holiday weekend:

The reason for this oppressive heat is a dome of high pressure over southern Mexico. We’re on the outer edge of this high. This is doing two things. First, it’s keep the severe weather north of us and second, it’s giving us a lot of heat. Temperatures climb to the mid-90s this weekend with the hottest day of the year expected Sunday and Memorial Day Monday. In fact, Monday may set or tie a record high of 96° from 2004. And the humidity also continues to go up. Sunday and Monday’s heat index will range from 106°-110°. Heat warnings go into effect when the heat index goes above 108° and that’s where we’ll be this weekend. Be safe, these are record setting feels like numbers for the month of May.
