Monday/Tuesday Forecast:

Monday and Tuesday could see a chance for some heavy rain at times as slugs of deep Gulf tropical moisture will be moving in from the coast starting in the morning, through chunks of the afternoon. Downpours could drop up to 1-2″ with each storm. We will see another round of storms flaring up again on Tuesday, which could also drop another 1-2″, even more in some areas. Early Week Rainfall Totals:

Areas around the coast will likely have the highest impact, upwards of 2-4″, isolated spots of 5″+ could lead to some street flooding. Rain chances will back off to some degree by Wednesday through the end of the week.

Two-day rainfall totals could be quite hefty for some areas along the coast

10-day forecast:

The benefit of having daily rain chances is that it will keep temperatures in check for this time of year. Highs will generally be in the upper 80s and low 90s.

Multiple rain chances this week with highs a bit cooler in the low 90s.

Tracking the tropics:

The National Hurricane Center is watching four tropical waves that have low to medium chances for development over the next five days. One is headed toward the Caribbean and then, potentiall into the Gulf of Mexico.

Tropics are starting to brew up some interest from the National Hurricane Center

Below is a comparison for Monday, Labor Day, September 5th. The American model has a hurricane into Mexico after earlier computer runs had it in the Gulf! That model continues to shift from run to run so it bears continued watching. The European model has this as an open wave in Mexico but now has a hurricane off the coast of Florida. The American model is notorious for creating what are called “model-canes.” We need this system to get a better circulation before we can say for sure what we can expect on Labor Day. the bottom line is that without any specificity, both models are showing an increase in activity. Make sure you have our Hurricane Tracker App for updates on this system and others that will form in the tropics.

There is still disagreement about the tropics and what, if anything, will form
