Stormy Sunday approaching

HOUSTON – Showers and thunderstorms are bubbling up along the northern counties this evening as a cold front slowly moves south into the greater Houston area.

Some storms may contain hail, frequent lightning and quick heavy downpours of up to 1 inch of rain.

Storms will continue to be isolated but strong later tonight as temperatures only cool into the mid-70s for Sunday morning.

More showers and thunderstorms are likely on and off all day Sunday. While they will be isolated, each one could flare up into a strong to severe thunderstorm quickly. Highs tomorrow will again push into the upper 80s.

Monday and Tuesday will also be fairly wet as another system swings through, bringing showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall totals through Tuesday may be 1-3 inches area wide with some isolated pockets of 3+ inches of rain.

Once that last system is through, high pressure takes control and we’re back to sunny skies and hot with highs in the low 90s
