Heat advisory issued for Houston, Galveston area

In effect from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory, which will go into effect from 10 a.m. Thursday morning to 7 p.m. tonight.

Temperatures will rise well into the mid-90s. The combination of humidity and heat will boost our chances of dangerous conditions outside. Feels like temperatures will be around 107 degrees.

Heat illnesses are possible and may develop quickly, especially for those working outside or participating in strenuous outdoor activities.

If you have to be outside, wear light and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.

Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool, shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, so call 911.
