This season, the SPC restricted travel due to the pandemic, limiting competitions to South and North zones. I know it was important to our team to finish out the season winning our final two games," said BJ Feuerhelm, Head Coach for the Dragon girls basketball program said. "In accomplishing this goal, we set a new conference record for any Cooper girls basketball team." "The varsity girls basketball team should be incredibly proud of their accomplishment," said John Hoye, Director of Athletics for The John Cooper School.

The women's basketball team went an impressive 15-2 overall and 7-1 in Southwest Preparatory Conference play, which was good enough to claim the 2020 SPC South Zone Championship. The Dragons were led by seniors Aalyssa Rogers (13.3 ppg/ 9.1 apg), Ajailah Ogiemwonyi (17.4 ppg/9.9 rpg) and sophomore Jorynn Ross (16.2 ppg/14.1 rpg). The season was historic and VYPE Media's Joshua Koch was joined by coach BJ Feurerhelm to talk in-depth about the season that will not be soon forgotten.

Originally, the TAPPS calendar had practice for football, volleyball and fall soccer set for August 3; first volleyball games for August 10 and football for August 27. Those start dates are now off the table. During the week of September 21, TAPPS football programs can hold one scrimmage. Those dates have been shifted to November 2 (first day of practice), November 9 (first day of scrimmages) and November 12 (first day of games).

So, the biggest question is how do we safely start volleyball on time? Club volleyball teams have been doing personal training this summer and have recently been doing tryouts for the 2020-2021 teams.
