Alessandro Michele steps down as Gucci creative director
Alessandro Michele is leaving his role as creative director of the Gucci, the fashion house announced Wednesday, bringing an end to an eight-year tenure that sharply redefined Gucciโs codes with romanticism and gender-fluidity, all the while powering revenues for the Kering parent.
Gucci, Gus Van Sant challenge fashion cycle with film collab
Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele teamed up with film director Gus Van Sant to create a seven-part mini-series revealing Guccis latest collection, dubbed Ouverture. Film and fashion have a long relationship, and Gucci is not the first fashion house to team up with a filmmaker, even during the pandemic. Van Sant traveled to Rome, where he filmed part of โMy Private Idahoโ 30 years ago, to shoot on location. โThere is a cinematic fusing with commerce,โโ Van Sant said. โThe combination of cinema with exposing fashion ideas has a lot of potential, as cinema starts to get sucked into the computer screen,โโ Van Sant said.
