Texans back from bye week, ready for Redskins

HOUSTON – The Texans are back at NRG Stadium after the bye week looking to continue a six-game win streak on the road this Sunday against the Redskins.

“Washington is in first place in the NFC East. About 18 takeaways and only seven giveaways from their offense," head coach Bill O’Brien said. "Team is very well coached have a lot of good players. Our total focus is on the redskins and going on the road and getting a win."

Safety Tyrann Mathieu said it’s a great feeling to get back to work.

“It was nice to get back into the building after taking a break for a while. Everyone seemed excited to be back,” Mathieu said.

One thing is for sure, the Texans have control of the division but nothing will be handed to them.

Mathieu said there are still many areas this team can improve.

“Winning six games felt great but there’s a lot of things that could have got us beat. On defense, we are trying to communicate and tackle better. We have a few days to work on it all as a group and get better so that’s what we are going to do. We are conscious of it,” he said.

The health of running back D’Onta Foreman has been something we’ve kept an eye on all season.

Foreman told KPRC Sports on Monday in the locker room that he expects to start the 21-day process to come off the PUP list very soon and coach O’Brien confirmed.

“If he shows us that he’s in decent shape and has come back from the injury then I don’t see any reason he couldn’t play for us this season,” Foreman said.
