Houston Astros 2016 season schedule released

HOUSTON – The Houston Astros Tuesday released the 2016 schedule and the team will open up against the Yankees in New York on April 4.

The 'Stros home opener will be on April 11 vs. the Kansas City Royals.

Houston will take on its former NL Central division rivals, St. Louis Chicago, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Milwaukee. The Cardinals will come to town Aug. 16-17, the Cubs will be in Houston Sept. 9-11, and the Reds will return to Minute Maid Park on June 17-19. The Astros will take on the Pirates and Brewers on the road.

The Astros' in-state rival, Texas Rangers, will come to Houston on May 20-22, Aug. 5-7 and Sept. 12-14. The Los Angeles Angels will also visit Houston three times: June 20-22, July 22-24 and Sept. 22-25.

The Astros will also host the Boston Red Sox (April 22-24), Yankees (July 25-27) and Toronto Blue Jays (Aug. 1-4).
