Rockets release 2016-2017 regular season schedule

Rockets open regular season at Lakers; Home opener vs Mavericks

HOUSTON – The NBA released the 2016-17 regular season schedule on Thursday and the Houston Rockets will open on the road at the Los Angeles Lakers on October 26.

New Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni most recent head coaching job was with the Lakers, he resigned following the 2013-14 season.

Houston will then play a home and home with the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 28 and Oct. 30. The game on Oct. 30 will the home opener for the Rockets.

The first and only visit of the season for former Rockets center Dwight Howard and the Hawks is slated for February 2.

The Rockets annual New Year's Eve game will feature the only visit to Houston for the New York Knicks. 

The defending western conference champion Golden State Warriors, featuring Steph Curry and newly-signed Kevin Durant, will face the Rockets four times, including a pair of visits to Houston on January 20 and March 28.

LeBron James and the Cavaliers will play at Toyota Center on March 12.

The Rockets do not play on Christmas Day this season.
