Lockdown ends at 2 Spring ISD schools, suspect in custody

Authorities are searching for a suspect

HARRIS COUNTY – The lockdown at two Spring ISD schools has been lifted and a suspect is in custody.

Dekaney High School and Booker Elementary were locked down around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Deputies searched the area for a suspect who was wanted for attempting to break into a home off of North Bend Drive.

"An alert neighbor observed some suspicious activity at one of the neighbors houses.," said Woody Mitchell, assistant chief deputy with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constables Office. "They contacted our office. The guys looked like they were about to break into a home. We got there just before the guys got into the home."

According to the Spring ISD, the search for the suspect has nothing to do with the schools, but the lockdown was initiated as a precaution.

The suspect was taken into custody around 1:25 p.m.

Only Local 2 has video of the suspect, who got away and ran from police. KPRC's Mark Boyle will have more on this story tonight on Local 2 News at 5.
