Texas DPS: 10 Most Wanted Fugitive arrested in Corpus Christi

AUSTIN, Texas – An alleged gang member of the Texas Mexican Mafia was arrested Friday in Corpus Christi.

Gilberto Garcia, 35, was on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive list and was wanted for murder and aggravated assault.

Garcia's arrest was the result of a tip, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Authorities say a reward of $7,500 will be paid.

The U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force arrested Garcia at a residence in Corpus Christi without incident, according to officials.

Investigators say that Garcia was wanted in connection with a Dec. 2014 shooting that left one man dead and two others injured.

Garcia's past offenses include unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, unlawful possession of body armor by a felon, aggravated sexual assault, tampering with evidence, unlawful carrying of a weapon and evading arrest.
