Body found during search for man reported missing during Hurricane Harvey, family members say

HOUSTON – Family members said the body of 43-year-old Joseph Dowell, who was reported missing during Hurricane Harvey, was found Thursday morning.

Dowell's body was found around 7:30 a.m. in a wooded area near Wayside Drive.

Police said Dowell went missing after he tried to drive to work about 2:30 p.m. Aug. 26. Dowell left from the 5600 block of Kennilwood Drive, but never arrived at his workplace, police said.

The City of Houston's Department of Public Works and Engineering told Channel 2 News that Dowell was a temporary fleet maintenance worker who worked at their location on 5500 McCarty Road. The agency said that's where he was headed Aug. 26 when he went missing.

Delahoussaye said police found Dowell's car Tuesday near his workplace, damaged by flooding.
