Pasadena High School student accused of raping student at school

PASADENA, Texas – A Pasadena Independent School District student is facing second-degree felony charges after investigators said he confessed to sexually assaulting another student. Apparently it all started when the two students decided to skip class.

David Campo, 17, is accused of raping a 15-year-old student inside Pasadena High School. He sits in jail charged with sexual assault of a child.

Pasadena ISD police said it happened on Oct. 13 when Campo and the girl agreed to skip class. According to police, Campo took her to a dressing room underneath the stage in the Pasadena High School auditorium, closed the door, turned off the lights and started kissing and touching the girl. Police said he then repeatedly sexually assaulted her as she tried to fight him off.

Police said Campo confessed on video to losing control of his body and having sex with the young girl even as she cried and told him "No."

School administrators said they received the report last week and quickly notified Pasadena ISD police.

The school district released a statement which read, "These charges are very serious and this behavior will not be tolerated in Pasadena ISD. Our goal is to provide students with an environment that is safe so that teachers can teach and students can learn. We will continue to work together to provide a safe environment for our children to learn."

Sexual assault of a child is a second-degree felony. A guilty conviction could mean up to 20 years in prison.
