HCSO: Driver crashes into home after being shot

HOUSTON - Detectives are trying to find out who shot a driver who crashed into a home before he died.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the driver of a Chrysler 300 who was traveling southbound on Nadolney Street pulled up to a stop sign at the intersection of Force Street about 10 p.m. on Thursday.

Another driver was headed westbound, and deputies said both drivers stopped at the intersection and flashed their lights signaling for the other car to proceed.

The driver of the second car pulled into the intersection and the driver of the Chrysler 300 surged forward, hitting the second car, investigators said.

Deputies said the driver of the Chrysler drove into a driveway, then into a home.

The residents of the home were asleep when the crash happened. They rushed outside to help the driver.

"All we did was ask him if he was OK and he said no," said one resident, who didn't want to be identified. "It was clear he had a wound. He did have something on his neck."

When paramedics arrived, they discovered the driver of the Chrysler had been fatally shot, officials said. His was identified at 30-year-old Chad Bowden.

Investigators are working to determine where, when and by who the driver was shot.

No one inside the home was hurt. The residents said they don't know how much it will cost to make repairs, but they said they were more concerned about Bowden and his family.

"We will feel sorry for him," a resident said. "God bless his family. We do pray for them."

The driver of the second car suffered chest pains unrelated to the crash.  She was transported to a hospital.
