Person killed after vehicle collides with train in southwest Houston

HOUSTON – An investigation into a fatal crash is underway after a train collided with a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in southwest Houston.

According to Union Pacific, the crash happened around 4:45 p.m. in the crossing at Almeda Road, just north of Junction Drive. A KPRC 2 photojournalist at the scene said the crossing had no arm to block traffic.

The train crew was not hurt, but the vehicle’s driver died at the scene.

Union Pacific says they are working with local authorities to understand what led up to the incident.
