Friendswood PD issues warning after viral, dangerous TikTok challenge startles homeowners

“I would stop someone if they did that in my yard”

FRIENDSWOOD, Texas – Police in Friendswood are warning residents of a viral TikTok challenge that encourages people to kick and bang doors in the middle of the night.

KPRC 2′s Re’Chelle Turner traveled to Friendswood to get reaction from homeowners, where they told her it’s a challenge that’s not worth it.

Friendswood Police describe the challenge as this: a group of teenagers walk up to a home kicking and banging on doors, then running away.

Over the past few weeks, police have received several reports of this type of activity. Police say this trend is causing both physical and emotional distress for residents of all ages.

“Ummmm…I thought New Year’s was over…I don’t like that. I’m an average guy..Texan…heavily armed.,” said homeowner Mike Todd. “I would stop someone if they did that in my yard. If I can get out and put on my clothes.”

Friendswood PD said in a Facebook post that officers are trying to identify those who are involved.

Anyone with information is urged to call 281-996-3300 or through Friendswood PD’s Citizen’s Online Reporting System.
