The NFL chose 32 people to receive this award who have gone above and beyond to make a lasting impact on their community.

These Changemakers were nominated by clubs for having a meaningful impact across Inspire Change’s four focus areas: education, economic advancement, police-community relations, and criminal justice reform,” the city of Houston said.

The Texans selected the mayor for what he has done during his time in office. He created the Hire Houston Youth Program to provide jobs to young adults. He also created the Complete Communities program to revitalize Houston’s underserved communities.

“In this city, we know how to work together to make things happen. I am very proud of this city, and I love Houston. Serving as mayor has been an honor and a privilege. I am grateful to receive this tremendous acknowledgement from the Texans. The award humbles me, and what a way to celebrate Christmas Eve,” said Mayor Turner.
