Southwest Houston apartment fire possibly sparked by electrical issue

HOUSTON – An electrical issues possibly sparked an apartment fire Friday morning in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Fire Department.

The fire was reported around 9:33 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 6500 block of Dunlap Street.

HFD crews responded to the scene and identified that the fire started on the first floor and destroyed an apartment unit.

According to a neighbor who lives on the third floor, the first floor may have had an electrical issue that caused the fire.

It is unknown if anyone was home at the time of the fire. No injuries have been reported.

Arson investigators responded to the scene to find the exact cause.

It was not disclosed how many residents were displaced but Red Cross was notified
