HOUSTON – Harris County Judge Candidate Alexandra Del Moral Mealer and other local leaders announced a law enforcement plan Wednesday to tackle crime.

A host of law enforcement leaders joined Mealer, including Precinct 2 Commissioner Candidate Jack Morman, Commissioner Jack Cagle and Commissioner Tom Ramsey, to reveal their comprehensive law enforcement plan to tackle the unprecedented rise in crime around the county, a news release said.

Mealer said her plan is to fix the crime in the community and says she has the votes and support to fund thousands of additional law enforcement positions which would be a immediate leadership change.

“We will fund 1,000 additional law enforcement. that’s how you make our community safe and that’s what are commitment of doing,” she said.

Mealer said the current county leaders have not prioritize public safety and can’t keep expecting more from fewer base and losing officers who are leaving because crime has become too much for them.

“And to Lina Hidalgo, I’m standing right here. You said you ran on transparency but you refused to debate,” she said. “How can voters make an informed decision if you don’t have the decency to stand behind your ideas and lets have a meeting of the mind and debate these policies.”
