Woman shot, killed during disturbance at Greenspoint area apartment, HPD says

HOUSTON – An investigation was underway Tuesday after a disturbance at a Greenspoint area apartment led to a woman being shot in the head, according to the Houston Police Department.

According to authorities, some sort of disturbance occurred between five people who were inside an apartment in the 400 block of Greens Road around 10:15 a.m.

At some point, one woman was shot in the head.

Another woman, who was temporarily staying at the apartment with her children, called her sister-in-law for help.

“She called me. She’s frantic. ‘Come get me and the kids. Come get me and the kids,’” Janaki Ali said. “She also stated that the bullet came through the wall, hit the air mattress and slightly missed my nephew’s head.”

After the shooting, three of the five people involved in the disturbance ran off, while two remained at the scene.

While processing the crime scene, police found giant snakes inside aquariums in the apartment. Authorities called Animal Control to retrieve the reptiles.

Investigators have not released the victim’s identity or a description of the shooter.
