Spina Bifida surgery success!
A Spina Bifida diagnosis used to mean that children could be confined to a wheelchair for life, often with shorter life expectancies. A breakthrough came in 2011 with fetoscopic surgery, a procedure performed with the baby still in their mother’s uterus. Just a few years later, more innovation: doctors at Texas Children’s Hospital created a method of fetoscopic surgery with remarkable outcomes for babies and their moms.
