Woman injured during possible road rage incident where she was followed home, shot at multiple times, deputies say

HARRIS COUNTY – Deputies are investigating after a woman said she was shot while driving in north Harris County.

Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting in the 19000 block of Remington Park Drive around 5 p.m. Thursday.

According to officials, the woman was driving home when she noticed a car following her. Moments later, the woman said someone in the passenger seat of the vehicle leaned out of the window with a rifle and started firing multiple shots.

“They stopped, and then once they got on the street and straightened out, the shooter leaned back out the window and continued firing at the vehicle,” HCSO deputy Matthew Curry said.

The woman was injured and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“I heard about 10 to 12 shots. They were really loud shots,” neighbor Arletha Ferguson said.

Ferguson said she was inside of her home when she heard the shots and ran outside to see what happened.

“My heart started beating real fast because they were some loud shots and I just felt like somebody was getting shot,” Ferguson said.

Investigators said the shooting appears to be a case of road rage, and could have been worse because the incident unfolded moments before a school bus dropped off students at a nearby bus stop.

“I’ve been living here for over 15 years and this has never happened on my street. But you know, today’s time it can happen anywhere,” Ferguson said.

Deputies are reviewing nearby surveillance videos for more information. No suspects have been arrested.
