Houston NewsMakers: Attorney for family in deadly HPD shooting of Alva Braziel speaks

Harris County Street Olympics, AAU Junior Olympics hits town

HOUSTON – Barbara Hudson is the attorney for the family of Alva Braziel. He was shot and killed by HPD officers on July 9th and police body cams were inconclusive because they were turned on “after” the fatal shots were fired. Hudson says the family has not filed suit against the City of Houston…yet. She says they just want to change the way police react to Black men “When they encounter a Black man, why are they so quick to draw their guns?”she asked. “I don’t think it would have been happening if it was over on Westheimer. Would they have drawn their guns on a White man so quickly? “Hudson says published details about the shooting may not be correct. That there is no proof Braziel was firing a gun prior to being shot.
