Help needed to solve series of rapes

HOUSTON – Deputies hope sketches posted on a digital billboard will help them solve a series of crimes that has been frightening women in north Harris County for more than a year.

Harris County said seven attacks since September 2011 all have the same pattern.

"We've reached a point where our leads have been exhausted," Deputy Thomas Gilliland said. "We weren't getting any new information on this case and we need something ... trying to get something to get more information on it."

All of the victims have been young, Hispanic women who work for escort services. The attacker had dates set up with his victims and met them at deserted apartments, where he beat and raped them.

Investigators said a woman called the escort service to set up the dates. Detectives said the victims were found through Craigslist and online sex sites.

Deputies said the attacks happened at the following locations:

  • September 2011: The Oaks of Cypress Station Apartments, 1000 Cypress Station
  • May 2012: The Oaks of Cypress Station Apartments, 1000 Cypress Station
  • October 2012: Autumn Lakes Apartments, 100 Hollow Tree Lane
  • December 2012: Autumn Lakes Apartments, 100 Hollow Tree Lane
  • January 2013: Autumn Chase Apartments, 200 Hollow Tree Lane
  • January 2013: Autumn Chase Apartments, 200 Hollow Tree Lane
  • February 2013: The Palms Apartments, 990 Cypress Station

Three different victims gave investigators three different descriptions of the attacker, investigators said. They said it's possible that two men are involved.

One victim described her attacker as black, in his mid 30s and 5 feet 5 inches tall. Another described her attacker as black, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing an earring in his right ear. A third victim described her attacker at 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall with a mustache and a beard.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
