Houston police said that the ambulance was responding to another crash involving a man and woman who were fighting. They said another car hit the back of the ambulance at the scene, resulting in three vehicles being damaged.

A woman, a man and two members of the ambulance crew were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Officials said the man was taken to the hospital by helicopter.

The road was closed while investigators were at the scene, but it has since reopened.
