DALLAS – An unwanted guest was found Wednesday morning outside a Dallas middle school, forcing police to call in animal control.
A big alligator was found by an officer who was on patrol near Steam Middle School.
The discovery was made just after midnight. At first the officer thought the alligator was a log on the grass, but once he got closer, he realized what it was.
Texas game warden crews were called to retrieve the 6-foot alligator. They were able to capture it around 4 a.m.
The alligator is being moved to Palmetto-Alligator Slough Preserve in Seagoville.
It's believed that the alligator might have slithered out of the nearby Trinity River and onto school grounds.
