Investigation underway after Pearland officer accused of driving while intoxicated

PEARLAND, Texas – An investigation was launched after a Pearland police officer was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.

Officials said Michael Gebert, 42, was in uniform and driving a department patrol vehicle at the time of the incident.

Gebert has been employed with the Pearland Police Department since 2001. He was awarded Traffic Division Recognition Award for "proactive handling of citizen traffic complaints to increase the safety of the motoring public," according to police records.

Gebert was placed on administration leave as the investigation continues. He is out on bond.
