Two people died in a car crash in southwest Houston Saturday morning, police said.
The crash happened around 4 a.m. in the 7400 block of Ashcroft Drive near Bissonnet Street, police said.

Investigators said the driver was speeding down the street and slammed into a tree.
The car was split in half and caught on fire after hitting the tree, police said.
The male driver and the female passenger died at the scene, police say. Their identities have not been released.
