Is this your pet? Dogs, cats rescued during Harvey can't find their owners

Houston, Texas – After Hurricane Harvey, hundreds of pets were left, lost, alone and displaced from their owners.

Best Friends Animal Society out of Utah arrived in Houston after Harvey to help with pet rescues.

Currently, volunteers with Best Friends Animal Society are caring for 455 dogs and cats displaced by Hurricane Harvey; 29 pets have been reunited with their families, but the vast majority are still waiting.

Volunteers said the pets had homes, as many are well-groomed and know tricks. They say many of the owners may not have internet access or smartphones.

Best Friends volunteers have been posting flyers for individual found dogs and cats in the targeted areas in and around Houston where the animals were rescued.

The animals in Best Friends' care will be held for 30 days from the time they were found and many are approaching the end of their stray hold.

After that, they'll become available for foster or adoption; this final push is crucial.
