2 Harris County voters plead guilty to voter fraud

HOUSTON – Two voters in Harris County pleaded guilty to voter fraud, according to county election officials.

The incidents happened during the May 2016 runoff election, officials said.

“My office found convincing evidence that voter fraud was committed,” Harris County Clerk Stand Stanart said.

Stanart said the evidence led to the pair being charged with unlawfully depositing a ballot, to which they pleaded guilty.

“We take election integrity seriously in Harris County,” Stanart said. “One person.  One vote.  It’s the law.”

The pair could be sentenced to up to a year in jail and up to a $4,000 fine.
