Woman assaulted, thrown in pool after complaining about party noise

BSO investigating incident shared on social media

NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating after a woman is seen being assaulted and thrown into a pool after complaining about noise at a North Lauderdale party.

Video shared on social media shows Nancy James, 68, entering the pool area at the Player's Place apartment complex on Saturday with her two small dogs.

James can be seen asking partygoers to lower the noise at the party. An estimated 200 people were attending the party, most of them kids.

A group of people surround James, laughing and taking video with their smartphones.

A man in a red shirt is then seen picking up James and falling to the ground. It's not known whether the man attempted to body slam James, of if he slipped on the wet pavement.

After the fall, the man picks up James and throws her into the pool while she continued to hold the leash of her dogs.

Party attendees can be heard screaming and laughing as they quickly ran away from the area.

James suffered bruises on her shoulder and leg, but refused to go the hospital.

The Broward Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the incident and looking to speak with witnesses.

James declined to speak, but residents at the apartment complex spoke to Local 10 and were shocked at what occurred in their community.

"First of all, I can't even believe that somebody would be allowed to act like that," said Tracy Ann Simmonds. "These young people are a little bit out of control."

"She's an elder, you need to show respect for your elders that's crazy, that's a horrible, horrible thing that happened to her," said Simmonds.
