Click2Daily: Summer Creek High special education students perform in spring show

HUMBLE, Texas – A group of special education students at Humble ISD’s Summer Creek High School was preparing to perform Friday in the school’s annual spring show.

“I love doing the dance and I love doing it with my friends,” said student Ayesha Rivers.

The students have been practicing the 4-minute dance since the beginning of the year.

“I’m going to be a great dancer and have a great smile on my face and everything,” said student Jalen Austin.

The school’s theater director Tom Dalton, came up with the idea last year.

“I think it’s exceptionally important. It’s not only important for them and their self-esteem and feeling of accomplishment, I think it’s also important for everybody else to see them accomplishing something,” said Dalton.

The students will perform twice. The first show starts at 7 p.m. Friday and the second show starts at 6 p.m. Saturday.
