Ex-con arrested in $20k weapons burglary

Nassau County Sheriff's Office found 9 guns, 2 swords, 1 knife

YULEE, Fla. – A man who was accused of stealing an estimated $20,000 worth of weapons from a home and a storage unit was arrested last Thursday, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sometime between Nov. 23 and 28, a burglary happened in a unit at a Cube Smart Storage Units at 1678 South 8th Street in Fernandina Beach, where several firearms were stolen.

During the course of their investigation, Nassau County Sheriff’s Office detectives identified a suspect and learned of several more firearms that were stolen from a home on Airplane Lane in Yulee.

On Dec. 8, Rocky Blake Nash, 31, from Fernandina Beach, was arrested for armed burglary, grand theft and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, officials said. Deputies said Nash also confessed to the burglary of the Yulee home.

Deputies said they believe Nash entered the storage unit through the ceiling and entered the Yulee home through a pet door.

During the investigation, detectives recovered nine stolen firearms, two swords and one knife, all worth an estimated $20,000.

Authorities said some of the stolen weapons have not been recovered. They said they suspect Nash has already sold some of them.
