Being single beats being married, according to new research

HOUSTON – A lot of people dream of being married, but new research suggests that being single has its perks.

Scientists at UC Santa Barbara found that single people tend to have richer social lives and show more psychological growth.

They also found that single people are more self-sufficient than their married peers.

Singles are also more likely to be resilient during hard times, because they are used to doing things themselves and not depend on others, the researchers found.
