Woman upset after her purse is stolen, police take 3 hours to arrive

HOUSTON – Thieves are targeting innocent victims at an Exxon in southeast Houston and one victim is outraged about the slow response from police.

Maria Arevalo said she was next to her car pumping gas when she realized her purse had been stolen from her car. It took hours for police to arrive. Due to an unusually high call volume in the area Thursday afternoon, the incident was handled at a low priority.

"I made a call to the police hoping to do a police report about it, but unfortunately I'm still waiting," Arevalo said Thursday afternoon.

Arevalo said her credit cards have been fraudulently used twice. She said another man had his cellphone stolen at the same gas station.

Police showed up three hours after Arevalo called dispatch.
