Driver facing charges after leading police on slow-speed chase in NW Harris County

HOUSTON – A driver was taken into custody Wednesday morning after leading police on a slow-speed chase on the northwest side of town.

The Harris County Toll Road Authority said a driver reported a white vehicle not maintaining a single lane on Beltway 8 at Westheimer. Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constables spotted the vehicle, but the driver wouldn't stop and continued at a slow rate of speed.

The driver traveled northbound on the West Belt to Highway 290 eastbound. The pursuit lasted at least 15 minutes.

The driver finally stopped on the feeder road of the Northwest Freeway at West 34th Street.

HCTRA said the driver will face DWI and evading arrest charges.
