Ex-Alvin High School teacher accused of child porn possession

HOUSTON – A former Alvin High School teacher has been indicted, accused of receiving and possessing child pornography.

Scott Burns, 45, appeared at a detention hearing Tuesday in which prosecutors presented evidence regarding his former employment and that he was a flight risk and a danger to the community. He is being held without bond.

The indictment alleges that from February 2012 to March 2013, Burns received child pornography. Burns is also accused of possessing a hard drive and compact discs containing video and still images of child pornography.

Local 2 reported back in March that Burns was off the job for Alvin ISD after being accused of using former students as models in risque photos and paintings. The district says the initial investigation reveals that the former students were of adult age at the time.

At that time, he was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography.

If convicted, Burns faces up to 20 years in prison on the two counts and a fine of up to $250,000 for each count. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.
