Man says Galveston rental home used by scammers

HOUSTON – A Clear Lake man says someone hijacked his vacation rental posting and reposted the ad on Craigslist.

Robin Harris owns several vacation rental properties, including one in Galveston.

"We logged on and there it was. It was my house and my photos, all of my information, but their contact information. So we started realizing that he was advertising, and having them wire the money to them and then he was long gone," said Harris.

He says he was contacted by a woman who was worried she may of been a victim because she felt uncertain after wiring more than $1,000 after seeing the ad on Craigslist.org.

Harris says in fact the woman was victimized and is now out the money. He contacted the person who listed the ad on Craigslist, but the man claimed he didn't know what Harris was talking about.

Harris would like to take legal action and prosecute the person who posted the fake ad, but so far he says police have not been able to figure out very much.
