Two 18-wheelers collide in construction zone accident on Southwest Freeway

18-wheeler driver says car caused him to lose control

HOUSTON –  Two 18-wheelers collided and a car driver is being blamed for causing the chain-reaction accident.

It happened on the Southwest Freeway and Beechnut around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday.

There is construction in the area, that has closed some of the lanes.

Investigators say a car pulled in front of an 18-wheeler, causing the truck driver to lose control, hit the car and slam into another 18-wheeler.

A pickup couldn't avoid the accident and ended up hitting the side of the 18-wheeler.

The 18-wheeler's driver was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

No one else was hurt.
