Houston Rodeo tickets: What you need to know

HOUSTON – We've all seen the star-studded entertainment lineup for this year's Rodeo; and that means there's probably going to be a big demand for tickets when they go on sale Saturday morning.

You might want to be careful about where you're getting your tickets. Every year there are hundreds of disappointed fans who purchase tickets online from resellers that either never deliver or end up delivering bogus tickets.

Here's what you need to know:

If you're buying tickets in person, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo only sells them through Ticketmaster locations. You can find those locations online or go directly to Rodeo Houston to buy your tickets through Ticketmaster online.

Beware there are other sites that try to trick you and make you think you're on the official RodeoHouston site. If you can't go in person or online, you can call Ticketmaster to buy tickets over the phone at 1-800-726-1313.

Don't buy tickets on Craigslist or eBay because you don't know from whom you're buying the tickets. And when you do get your tickets, we know you want to show them off, but the folks at Rodeo Houston say you should be careful how you do that.

"If you get tickets, don't hold them up to your iPhone and take a picture of them because if you show that bar code, someone can reproduce that ticket," said HLS&R's Leroy Schafer. "They may sell hundreds of that ticket with your bar code. Whoever gets in first has the valid ticket."

Schafer says there are at least 18,000 tickets remaining for every performance of the Rodeo, but they do admit many of the best seats already belong to season ticket holders.
