Feud leads to shooting, SWAT standoff in southeast Houston

HPD: Gunman gave up after talking with SWAT officers

HOUSTON – SWAT officers were credited with ending a standoff inside a southeast Houston garage Monday night.

Just after 9:15 p.m., police were called to a home on Lingonberry Lane And Calhoun Street.

Investigators said a man with a gun barricaded himself in a garage after a shooting.

The man refused to come out when patrol officers talked to him, so the SWAT team was called in to help.

After speaking with SWAT team members, the gunman gave up without incident.

Police said the gunman shot a man in a driveway after an argument. The two had apparently been involved in an ongoing feud.

The victim was able to drive to a second location in the 7500 block of Calhoun Street, where he called for an ambulance. He was transported to Ben Taub Hospital. His condition was not released.
