Summer 'staycation' on the cheap

Americans are expected to spend $98 billion this summer for travel, which is a 5 percent increase from last year. However, with flight and hotel prices on the rise, some may be looking to cut down on spending by staying close to home.

Ivanhoe has some ideal ways you can kick back, relax and vacation at home.

With flights, hotels and rental cars, that trip you want to plan might be flying further away from your budget. On average, the typical American family spends about 44 percent of their travel budget on getting to and from their destination. So staying at home allows you to splurge a little more. Explore your hometown by going to attractions or museums in your city.
