Cookin' Time with H-E-B: Filled pasta with butternut squash sauce and tomato and basil bruschetta

HOUSTON – Here's another couple of tasty recipes from the kitchens of H-E-B that you saw featured on KPRC2 News Midday on Oct. 4, 2018.

Filled pasta with butternut squash sauce 

Prep Time: 10 mins.

Cook Time 15 mins.


  • 1 9oz container of H-E-B Filled Pasta 
  • 1 cup Orti Di Calabria Butternut Squash Pasta Sauce 
  • ½ cup H-E-B Whipping Cream 
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh sage 
  • Pecorino Romano to taste 


  • In a large pot, bring water to a boil
  • Cook H-E-B-filled pasta and cook per instructions on package
  • While pasta is cooking, bring cream and butter nut squash to a simmer in a medium-sized pan
  • When pasta is ready, remove from boiling water and place into cream mixture. Gently mix pasta so that it is incorporate with sauces
  • Remove from heat and plate. Garnish with Pecorino Romano and fresh sage
  • Tomato and basil bruschetta


    • 1 whole baguette or crusty loaf
    • 1 Cosi Come tomato, assorted varieties 
    • 16 basil leaves, plus more as needed, chiffonade
    • 1 stick butter, room temperature-soft
    • 1 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
    • 2-4 cloves garlic, whole


  • Slice baguette and lightly butter both sides
  • Grill or bake in oven on a wire rack
  • Cook until golden brown; let cool
  • Chop tomatoes; combine with basil and vinegar
  • Rub garlic on one side of toast point
  • Top each toast point with tomato mixture
  • Place on serving tray and enjoy
