HOUSTON – KPRC2 meteorologist Eric Braate is taking an incredible and emotional journey in 2017 for a good cause.
It will take us from Houston, Texas, all the way to Kona, Hawaii, for the 2017 IRONMAN Triathlon World Championship in October. And it has a singular purpose: To raise awareness and funds to battle and destroy blood cancer.
KPRC2 and Eric are teaming up with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to do something amazing. LLS does incredible work to assist blood cancer patients and their families. It also funds cutting-edge research to advance treatments and to zero in on a cure.
We're proud to partner with such a great organization. Eric's history with LLS goes back to 2010. He's also proud to be a part of the KPRC2 family. When Eric pitched the idea to do the project, KPRC2 co-workers jumped on board immediately. Channel 2'’s mission is to serve the community and this is a perfect way to do it.
President H.W. Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush sent a letter of support as Eric prepares for the IRONMAN World Championship Triathlon.
Over the next several months we will be telling stories of our neighbors impacted by blood cancer. We'll introduce you to researchers on the cutting edge of blood cancer treatment. We will show you why supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is such a worthy thing.
All this, and Eric will take you along while he racks up hundreds and hundreds of miles running, biking and swimming to prepare for one of the most grueling athletic events on the planet.
Our goal is to make this journey a smashing success! To do that, we need your help. Please consider donating to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by clicking this link.
Your generosity will make a difference in people's lives.
