Houston Zoo proud to announce event's return

HOUSTON – It’s back! Starting Nov. 18, Zoo Lights will return to the Houston Zoo.

The event features more than 2 million LED sparkling lights, carolers, replicas of zoo animals, Candy the Zoo Lights zebra and a 33-foot-tall Christmas tree. Zoo Lights, presented by TXU Energy, runs through Jan. 15, 2017.

Although most of the zoo animals are sleeping during the event, which starts at 6 p.m., guests can get a glimpse of their favorite nocturnal residents by ducking into the Reptile and Amphibian House, Kipp Aquarium, Bug House, or Carruth Natural Encounters.

The Houston Zoo is transformed into a wintry wonderland for Zoo Lights, which runs daily (but is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas). On Prime Nights, the event remains open until 11 p.m.
