With an unofficial visit scheduled for later this month, Southlake Carroll's three-star recruit, Landon Samson, took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce his commitment to play college football at South Carolina:

A UIL state championship followed by a halted season due to a global pandemic: Southlake Carroll girls soccer is looking to make up for lost time as they fight through their district schedule. When we aren't training, we're team building," said senior Morgan Quillen in an interview with VYPE DFW earlier this season. After the interrupted season, the Lady Dragons have been working hard to get back on track this season. Currently ranked in the fifth slot in their district, the Lady Dragons are showing that they aren't willing to go out without a fight. On the eve of the UIL 5A and 6A State Championships the stage is set. Powerhouse and Cinderella football programs will be under the bright lights of AT&T Stadium this weekend. Like the Wednesday's 5A DII preview and 5A DI preview, we're going to change up the preview style. In the season's final game, Austin Westlake and Southlake Carroll take center stage. It's the #DodgeBowl with father (Todd Dodge at Westlake) and son (Riley Dodge at Carroll) meeting in the first-ever coach-son matchup. And then there's Westlake gunning for its second straight state title after winning the DII championship last season. PREDICTIONLike last week, Westlake makes another good quarterback a bit ineffective and forces another low-scoring game.

And just like that we're down to the final two weekends of the Texas high school football season. With Ewers' career day, Brady Boyd also had a career day with 17 receptions for 261 yards and 4 touchdowns. Cedar Hill Escapes with OT Win Over HeathCedar Hill 27, Rockwall-Heath 24If everything could go wrong for Cedar Hill on offense, it pretty much did. Cedar Hill had three opportunities in the fourth quarter with the game tied at 21 to end it in regulation. With the win, Cedar Hill is in the semifinals and will play Denton Guyer in at 1 p.m. Saturday at McKinney ISD Stadium.

The Saturday slate of games at The Temple brings another tripleheader full of area's big-name teams and the state's top talent. Trinity leaned all the way on its stud junior running back for 455 yards, six TDs and upset Allen. Cedar Hill, on the other hand, prefers to keep the game more in balance with precision offense and stingy defense. Only one Cedar Hill game this year had both teams scoring in the 40s. In the other 10 games, the scoring average of the two teams was 48 points per game combined.

Trinity trailed 24-13 going into the half but scored on its first seven possessions of the second half, which featured five lead changes. Guyer raced out to a 24-7 first half lead only to see Abilene make things a bit interesting a couple times in the second half. Prosper's D Stifles EatonIn a close game, Prosper forced three Eaton interceptions to come out with a 27-17 win to move on to Regional Finals against Guyer. He also added two more scores on the ground, which was all the offense Prosper needed in the win. In addition to the three interceptions, Prosper held Eaton to just 205 yards of offense and only 47 yards rushing.

PREVIEWING KELLER TIMBER CREEK (4-4, 2-2)Late in the season, you always want to be playing meaningful football, and Keller Timber Creek is in that situation in the regular season finale. On the year, Timber Creek is averaging 31 points a game but has only scored 40 points in the last two games. On the year, Eaton is averaging 33 points per game and 38.2 points per game during district play. PREVIEWING THE GAMEAs foreshadowed earlier, this game has much more meaning to Timber Creek than it does to Eaton. Carroll's Quinn Ewers and Rockwall's Braedyn Locke are dynamic passers with strong arms, quick wits and high trust in their receivers. Still the defense has only given up 30 points on the year and will need that defense to try to slow down a strong Rider team. Denton Braswell vs. Richardson PearceBraswell picked up the program's first win as a 6A school with an overtime thriller last week against Keller. McKinney did lose last week to Marcus, so it's looking for a bounceback win this week. 2020 PROGNOSTICATION SEASONAnother great week for me last week, going 11-1 with the lone loss being Euless Trinity falling at home to Prosper.
