The descendants of a 19th century Scottish sugar and coffee planter who owned thousands of slaves in Guyana have apologized for the sins of their forefathers and called slavery a crime against humanity.

The Spartans are seeking their 23rd straight NCAA Tournament appearance. In the Mountain West, Colorado State and Utah State succeeded where Boise State failed. Those two teams advanced to the semifinals of that tournament and have a chance to keep padding their resumes at a time when several other bubble teams can't. Georgetown upsets Big East top seed Villanova 72-71 at MSG
The Hoyas are back in the Big East Tournament semifinals for the first time in six years, with the former Georgetown and Knicks star leading the way. Georgetown last reached the Big East semifinals in 2015. โWe played against the Cadillac, the Bentley, whatever you want to call them, of the Big East โ the class of the Big East. The quarterfinal day at the Garden is often the best of the Big East Tournament. They had not won even a single Big East Tournament game since 2016 before beating Marquette in the first round Wednesday.
Nolan Catholic Lady Vikings unscathed in the Governor's Cup
Over the weekend, Fort Worth Nolan Catholic's girls soccer traveled south to Georgetown, Texas to participate in the Governor's Cup hosted by Georgetown High School. The Lady Vikings were able to walk away from the tournament undefeated. With a hat trick from senior forward Laci Earixson, the Lady Vikings were able to begin the tournament with a 3-1 win over Rouse on Thursday. Friday, the Lady Vikings took on Lake Travis. With an first half goal from Earixson, Nolan Catholic pulled off held Lake Travis to a draw.

The United States has shed roughly 540,000 factory jobs since last February as the coronavirus pandemic hurled the world's largest economy into recession. The order also has elements that apply to the separate Buy America program, which applies separately to highways and bridges. The number of U.S. manufacturing jobs peaked in 1979 at 19.5 million and now totals 12.3 million, according to the Labor Department.
Biden to reinstate COVID travel rules, add South Africa

The decision to reverse the order is not surprising, but the addition of South Africa to the restricted travel list highlights the new administrationโs concern about mutations in the virus. The South Africa variant has not been discovered in the United States, but another variant โ originating in the United Kingdom โ has been detected in several states. Reuters was first to report Bidenโs decision to add South Africa to the list.

Neighbors sue over terminally ill boyโs playscape
Neighbors of a 3-year-old boy are filing a lawsuit over a backyard playscape which was pre-approved by HOA before being installed. When Colton Costa, 3, learned he could pick out which playscape his parents would buy for their Georgetown, Texas yard, he went for the largest one with the most slides. โWeโre trying to live in the now because the future is very scary with this kind of diagnosis,โ says Coltonโs mother, Kim Costa. Their next-door neighbors, Richard and Carole Gottleib, filed a lawsuit claiming the playscape cannot be properly be screened from view. The Gottleibs say the 14 feet high playscape violates HOA restrictions.
