The Art Institute of Houston is set to close its doors this week along with several schools in the nation. Students are putting their dreams on hold, trying to figure out what’s next.

The Art Institutes system of schools announced their locations, including the location in Houston, will be permanently closing as of Sept. 30.

A KPRC 2 viewer pointed out the Sears location at Macroplaza Mall in Pasadena, formerly known as Pasadena Town Square, is set to close this Sunday, with yellow “store closing” signs posted all over. By the start of 2021, fewer than 100 Sears and KMart stores remain in the U.S., Forbes reported. The Pasadena store is still listed on the Sears website with hours listed from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Sunday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Only Sears Appliance Repair flagship stores remain in the Houston area, including ones on North Shepherd and Westheimer.

HOUSTON – An auction will be held for items belonging to Home Plate Grill and Bar. The auction, posted on the Texas Restaurant Equipment website announced an early preview of the items Friday and Monday between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m, which included items from the restaurant-bar once located right across Minute Maid Park. Items on the auction include coolers, pots and pans, charbroilers and various other restaurant equipment. Home equipment and electronics such as televisions,Home Plate Grill and Bar permanently closed their doors on Jan. 6, according to the auction’s description. Items available for auction are posted on the TRE Auctions website, with pictures and description included.
