HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office is investigating after a pizza delivery man was shot Monday in the Spring area.
The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office said the victim is still in stable condition as of Tuesday.
Authorities say the victim pulled up to the entrance gate at the Timber Run apartment complex at 3030 Hirschfield Road. Investigators say two black men pulled up behind him in a dark vehicle and one of the men got out and approached him on foot.
The deliveryman tried to get back to his vehicle to avoid the man. Officials say that's when three shots were fired -- one of them hitting the victim in the chest.
"The suspect opened fire and shot three times at him," said Capt. Wally Wieghat with Precinct 4. "Two of the rounds hit the car, one went through the windshield, striking the driver in the chest."
The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office said it believes the motive of the shooting was robbery.
Neighbors told KPRC2 they heard the gunshots and had no idea what was happening.
"I was inside my apartment," said Hever Capote. "I heard three gunshots, followed by about two seconds later of tires screeching."
Investigators said the victim was awake and talking when he left the scene. They have deputies interviewing him and getting more information but he didn't get a very detailed description.
They are looking for at least two black men who were in a dark-colored sedan. At least one of them had a gun.
No suspects are in custody at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call Precinct 4.
