FORT BEND COUNTY – Two burglary suspects were arrested after a search that lead to a lockdown at an elementary school and a YMCA in the Cinco Ranch area.
Earlier Monday, the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office says a lockdown was issued for Williams Elementary and a nearby YMCA during the search.
Authorities caught two suspects near the school, but one suspect eluded capture so the school was put on lockdown.
At that time, the district said all students and staff were safe and were sheltering in place with the doors secured. A police officer was placed at the school entrance.
Then at dismissal, most of the students were allowed to go home, but there was an active search in one neighborhood.
Some student bus riders at Williams and nearby Cinco Ranch Middle School were taken back to campus. Parents were asked to come pick up their kids; no students were allowed to walk home due to the search.
The sheriff's office says the third suspect remains on the run.
